Construction of upgrades and improvements to the Batesville Water Utilities primary interceptor sewer system were partially financed by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund. The CWSRF program is administered by the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission with joint funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Arkansas. The primary interceptor sewer improvements project consists of construction of approximately 15,556 linear feet of sanitary sewer pipe ranging in size from 42” to 8” with 77 concrete manholes from 4’ to 8’ diameter. The project includes multiple railroad or state highway crossings and includes a crossing of the Polk Bayou. This project will provide protection to the White River and its tributaries by reducing inflow and infiltration into the collection system, greatly reducing the frequency of overflows throughout the system due to hydraulic overloading. In addition, this project will benefit the citizens of Batesville and the surrounding area by adding capacity to the collection system ensuring business and industry will have the sanitary sewer infrastructure for future growth. CWSRF programs operate around the country to provide states and communities the resources necessary to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our valuable water resources nationwide.
